In most ketamine clinics, ketamine is administered without the presence of a trained therapist in an environment that feels like a hospital or traditional doctor’s office.  While these treatments can still be beneficial, there may be lost opportunities if people don’t know what to do with their experience.   With Ketamine Assisted Therapy, patients have the opportunity to integrate new insights from ketamine into their lives to make positive and lasting changes.  Our sessions are conducted in rooms designed to feel like a living space so that patients feel more at home and can enter their experience with a sense of safety and comfort.

Because of ketamine’s unique mechanism of action, most medications can be continued throughout the series.  There are a few medications that will be adjusted on treatment days, which you can discuss during your initial consultation.

Fee Schedule:

In order to provide the best possible care and avoid insurance company restrictions, we do not accept private insurance, Medicare or Medicaid. However, we can provide a “superbill” that includes diagnostic codes and fees that you can submit to your insurance company to attempt reimbursement for out of network services.

Prior to beginning Ketamine Assisted Therapy, you will have a 90 minute consultation where you will review your medical and psychiatric history with Dr. Burke to determine if you are a good candidate for treatment. After this visit, Ketamine Assisted Therapy sessions may begin and typically occur twice per week for four weeks for the initial series. Sessions are 90 minutes long, and patients are asked to stay for another 30 minutes in our recovery space.

Please note that you are not required to commit to finishing a series after it has started. You are able to stop treatment at any time.

Each session begins with a check-in to answer any of your questions and discuss what’s on your mind. Dr. Burke will check your vitals, and when you’re ready, you will receive an intramuscular administration of ketamine in your deltoid (shoulder muscle). After this, you will be invited to put on an eye mask and headphones so you can listen to a music playlist that has been curated to support the ketamine experience. The ketamine effects typically begin within 5 minutes, and for 45 minutes you will have an internal experience while your therapist remains present in the room for anything you need. Your therapist will let you know when 45 minutes has passed, and the rest of the time is available to spend how you wish – whether that be talking with the therapist or reflecting silently. We will check your vitals once again, and after the 90 minutes have passed, you can head to our cozy recovery space for relaxation and reflection until you are ready to be driven home.

We use intramuscular injection of ketamine into the deltoid (shoulder muscle). This allows for an experiential component that we think is valuable along with good bioavailability of the medication.

We do not at this time as Psilocybin and MDMA are only available currently through registered clinical trials.
